Star Airlines changed its name from Alaska Star Airlines to Alaska Airlines in 1958. From 1958-1977, the Pilgrim served five different carriers in Alaska and Washington. Wenatchee Air Services, Bellingham Canning Company, Marine Foods and Packaging Company, Alaska Airlines, and Schenk Seafood Sales Inc. Ball Brothers purchased the Pilgrim for flying fish out of Bristol Bay until issues of slime from fish and saltwater caused damage to the plane and had to suspend service in 1985. on 8/7/1986 it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places for its fiftieth anniversary. When the Pilgrim was sold, it took a while to decide who would purchase it. Finally, in 2001 it was sold to the Alaska Aviation Museum where it'll stay in the state it belongs in.
