Description
The Fageol Bus
Built in California and used in Washington State before being purchased by Mt. Mckinley Tourist and Transportation Company (MMT&T) in 1928 replacing the horses and carriages with quicker and easier transportation throughout the campgrounds and what's currently Denali Park Depot. Still, the horses and carriages would allow more adventure with a twelve-mile ride to the campsites. Road construction was in place allowing the buses to access Camp Eielson. Mount Mckinley Tourist and Transportation Company was in business until the mid-1930s when the Alaska Railroad purchased the buses and left the Fageol abandoned at the corner of Davis Road and University Avenue in Fairbanks for over seventy years. In 2014, the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum decided to rescue the bus and display it outside McKinley Chalet Hotel in Denali.
