Before WWII, the United States Armed Forces needed these Pullman Sleepers to get soldiers to and from the military camps. After training, these Pullman cars took the troops to the shores where they'd get on ships to other continents needing Americans. During WWII, the United States Military had railroads slammed busy with the demand of transporting troops, equipment, food, and supplies. Boxcars were converted to troop carriers by cutting out windows and installing bunk beds, tour train equipment was converted to transport 39. In 1972 a fire burned down the McKinley Park Hotel. These Pullman Sleepers made do for keeping business in the park and made part of lodging at what is known today as Denali Park Hotel attracting those fascinated with trains or Alaska.
