White Pass & Yukon Route #52
Went to work for the Utah & Northern Railroad until being sold to Columbia & Puget Sound in 1890. It was finally sold to the White Pass & Yukon Route when established in 1898. #52 was first tested in the Skagway Valley then when it turned out to be reliable, it operated along Lake Bennett. It served as a tram for service between Taku and Scotia Bay in 1931 getting passengers to and from the M/V Tahrane that took them up to Atlin Inn. #52 was retired in 1936 then recovered from a spur at Taku and brought back to Skagway for display. A roundhouse fire caused minor damage to the locomotive in 1969. After two years had passed, repairs have been made and #52 was once again placed on display next to the rotary in front of the Skagway Depot.
